How to Have Luxury, High End Details Without Spending a Fortune

Have you ever seen those gorgeous pictures of all the bridal details off of a place like Style Me Pretty or Martha Stewart Weddings? You know the ones, with the beautiful velvet ring box from the Mrs Box, the Parisian inspired wedding invitation suite and the luxurious silk ribbons on vintage dishes?

It can seem like you have to spend a fortune on so many little things to just take one pretty picture. But I’ll let you in on a secret…

You don’t HAVE to spend hundreds of dollars to get all those picture-perfect details. Read on to find out where you can find those wedding day props at a fraction of the cost.

A ring box is one thing I would recommend every bride or groom getting. It instantly elevates your wedding rings (even if you have a simple looking band!) and gives the eye something more to look at. But even the smallest velvet ring box can set you back $75!

So where else can you find more affordable ring boxes?

ETSY. Which you probably already know. Here are a few of my favorite shops on etsy that sell very affordable, beautiful ring boxes.

Belle Box Boutique

Blush Vintage AB

Evas Gift Store

All of these boutique shops sell ring boxes under $30 and they’re all local! So you’re not only saving money on an heirloom engagement ring box, you’re also supporting a small business.

Many wedding detail shots include silk ribbons, hand dyed cheesecloth or other fabrics to add texture and dimension to the image. But sometimes it’s hard to find good quality silk ribbons or other fabrics that don’t cost an arm and a leg.

Places like a fabric store can definitely have what you’re looking for, or even a place like Amazon!

You may have to think outside the box a bit, but you can find some great fabrics in an array of colors that will fit with your aesthetic.

For example, I bought this newborn wrap to use as a piece of fabric for a flat lay for a wedding I did not too long ago. It went PERFECTLY with the bride’s details and could definitely be an option for you as well.

Etsy is also a great place to find some luxury-style fabric. Check out shops like AnastasiaMarieShop for silk ribbons on spools or greenearthstudio for cheesecloths.

Some of the prettiest detail photographs include an interesting tray or dish to place bridal pieces on. But these can also be difficult to find!

A really easy place to start is if you know someone crafty or a mom or grandmother. Many people who are into crafts or are empty nesters have lots of vintage china, silver or porcelain that they’re no longer using. And the best part, it’s FREE.

For instance, this tray that you see in the image below was given to me by my mother-in-law. She didn’t want it anymore and asked if I wanted it. (also that beautiful lacy cloth beneath the Miss Dior perfume bottle is the newborn wrap I mentioned getting off Amazon!)

Definitely try someone you know and ask if they have any vintage trays or plates that they could either give you or that you could borrow for the wedding day. It’ll really make those bridal details shine!

And that’s pretty much it! If you’re wanting other things to go with the theme of your wedding, here is a list of other places and shops that have lots of inexpensive props you can buy for your photographer to use in your detail photos.

Happy hunting!
