I had the tremendous opportunity to photograph a lovely styled shoot wedding at Venue 308 in downtown Calgary. Heather from Orange Trunk & Heather Johnson Design created a beautiful spring time palette complete with unique terracota and sage green accents.
The Design
Heather described her inspiration as “Copper + Pearl is a springtime nod to a typically fall colour palette. With the brightness of softer shades like terracotta and sage, and tones of camel, blush + pearl, the design came together beautifully. With the help of each vendor involved, the entire inspiration was a perfect way to welcome spring.
Venue 308 newly painted their white brick wall, emphasizing the light and capturing lots of fresh looks.
The table was beautiful with floral arrangements in shallow vessels, paired with vintage books, vintage place settings and beautiful printed menus + terracotta name cards.
The team styled the cake table in multiple distinct ways. 3 tiered table with and without vintage lighting against the white brick wall; and rustic dresser with lighting against the rust brick wall. Both options used florals to emphasize spring vibes.
The Couple
Our couple is beautifully captured in portrait style, together and separately, using a vintage sofa and romantic lighting. Additional portraits highlight the cake display and thoughtfully designed tablescape.
The groom wears a brown-on-black suit with a floral tie that complements the bride’s gown. Her gown features a full train adorned with colorful appliqué lace. The beauty look remained fresh and romantic, with long hair styled down and finished with a gold and pearl headband. Wedding rings were created in a soft rose gold with stunning centre stone paired with diamond bands. The stationery suite featured handmade paper in a soft camel tone, accented by a floral insert. These details perfectly accentuated the fresh, springtime aesthetic. A playful tabletop detail included stacks of chewy ginger cookies tied with soft golden silk ribbon.
For an additional reception look, the bride changed into a sweet floor-length gown. The dress swished effortlessly as she twirled across the dance floor.
