Copper & Pearl Wedding Inspiration

I had the tremendous opportunity to photograph a lovely styled shoot at Venue 308 in downtown Calgary. Heather from Orange Trunk & Heather Johnson Design created a beautiful spring time palette complete with unique terracota and sage green accents.

Heather described her inspiration as “Copper + Pearl is a springtime nod to a typically fall colour palette. With the brightness of softer shades like terracotta and sage, with tones of camel, blush + pearl, the design came together beautifully. With the help of each vendor involved, the entire inspiration was a perfect way to welcome spring.

With the venue’s newly painted white brick wall, we emphasized the light and captured lots of fresh looks.

The table was beautiful with floral arrangements in shallow vessels, paired with vintage books, vintage place settings and beautiful printed menus + terracotta name cards.

The cake table is offered in multiple ways: 3 tiered table with and without vintage lighting against the white brick wall; and rustic dresser with lighting against the rust brick wall. Both options using florals to emphasize spring vibes.

Our couple is beautifully captured in portrait style together and separately, with vintage sofa and lighting as well as with the cake display and the table design. The suit is brown on black with floral print tie that ties in with the gown, that has a full train, with coloured appliqué lace. The makeup was kept fresh and romantic with hair worn long and a beautiful gold and pearl topped headband. The rings were created in a soft rose gold with stunning centre stone paired with diamond bands. The stationery suite was created with handmade paper in a soft camel colour and floral insert that accentuated the spring time style. A fun addition to the table top and dessert table was the stack of chewy ginger cookies tied pretty with a soft golden silk ribbon.

For an additional reception look, our bride change into a sweet floor length gown that would swish the night away while being twirled around the dance floor.”
