The best way to end my September is always with a Bowden Sunmaze engagement session–like the one I did with Nikki & Michael recently! It was my supreme honor of photographing this gorgeous & adorable couple at Bowden Sunmaze amidst sun-drenched sunflowers & colorful wildflowers.
Not only was it a beautiful photoshoot, but it was just plain good for my soul ✨
Their Love Story
Nikki & Michael are SO in love, their love was based off of a several year friendship which is always my favorite love story. Michael even admitted he picked Bowden Sunmaze because sunflowers are Nikki’s favorite flower! So it made perfect sense that Nikki bought a sunflower & wildflower bouquet to use as a prop during their engagement session. When the sunflowers are in bloom and the sunset is golden, there is a special kind of magic that happens at the start of autumn. Which makes for the perfect setting for beautiful photos!
The Why
This engagements session was exactly what I needed & it reminded me that what I do isn’t just taking beautiful photos (which I do love doing!), it’s about making my couples laugh and documenting their love story in a way that’s both romantic and joyful. What I try to do for each of my couples is not only provide them with beautiful images, it’s also providing them an experience where every time they look at their gallery, they can remember the laughter and the how they felt beautiful.
My favorite part of any wedding day or engagement session is making my couples laugh & capturing the light and life in their souls that brightens their eyes as they look at each other. I had SO much fun making Nikki & Michael laugh–and I’m more than a little obsessed with Nikki’s dimples. I mean LOOK at how adorable they are! I definitely had some dimple envy while taking their photos 😉😂
It was a good reminder to me that photography is about human connection and freeze-framing sparkling memories that my couples can look back on and remember exactly how they felt in that moment.
As JRR Tolkien once said, “The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.”
Congratulations Nikki & Michael! It was such a pleasure getting to know you two and allowing me to follow y’all around with my camera for an evening 😂
