On the way to Banff National Park, in Kananaskis within the wilds of Bow Valley Provincial Park lies a hidden gem off Highway 1. Middle Lake Trailhead proved to be the best place for Banff engagement photos!
Their Engagement Session
Janelle and Mike chose the Canmore/Banff area for their engagement photos, but weekends there can get incredibly busy and touristy. Finding a quiet, intimate spot often feels tricky—sometimes downright impossible. Still, I set out determined to find a location that checked all the boxes: mountain views, wildflowers, and zero crowds.
I wandered down a few off-the-beaten paths and eventually landed at Middle Lakes—and I’m so glad I went exploring, because it turned out to be the perfect spot!
Fields of blossoming crocuses surrounded us, and the serene lake mirrored the majestic peaks of Yates Mountain, Engagement Mountain, Doorjam Mountain, Loder Peak, and Yamnuska.
Janelle and Mike absolutely shone during their session. They moved so naturally in front of the camera, and Janelle even brought an adorable white bouquet as a thoughtful touch.
I was so thrilled to have found a new favorite spot for engagement photos in Banff and more importantly, to have spent a wonderful evening with one of the sweetest couples ever 🙂
