Hey friends and welcome back to my blog! If you’re new around here, hi π I’m Meg! I’m the owner of Meg Seitz Photography based in both Calgary/Banff, Alberta and Atlanta, Georgia! And today I’ll be adding to my helpful tips about what are the best clothes to wear for engagement photos.
I did a post about what to wear for engagement photos that you can read about here, but I thought I’d do more of a visual Pinterest board inspiration for any of you couples out there who are wanting specific outfit ideas. It’s all well and good to read about what clothing works and what doesn’t, but if you’re a visual learner (like me!), it’s nice to just look through inspiration and compare it to what’s in your closet at home (or what you’ve been eyeing at Anthropologie!)
If you’d like to see more outfit inspiration, feel free to visit my Pinterest board here.
So let’s go through some of my favorite couples’ outfits for the engagement shoots I’ve done!

So you see? Some couples go very formal while others are more comfortable with dressy casual. Even a few couples like to pay homage to their family traditions & culture! Your engagement session is exactly what you make of it–and a great thing to remember is if you feel good and feel pretty/handsome, it will definitely shine through the photos!
The Takeaway
A few things to take away for quick reference:
- Lighter/neutral clothing lends itself best to light and airy photos, so try to steer clear of dark or black clothing!
- Ladies, the flowy-er the dress, the prettier you’ll feel (and look!). If you’re at all worried about how you’ll look in your photos, skip anything skin-tight, and go for loose-flowing or billowy skirts and dresses!
- Guys, if you’re wanting to look masculine and studly in your photos (and make your photographer happy!) khakis and dress pants are the way to go!
I hope this was helpful! Feel free to scour my Pinterest account here for more ideas π
