Mel & Alex’s sunrise Kananaskis engagement session was something out of a dream!

I am not a morning person–like seriously, just ask my husband–but I will definitely make an exception for a sunrise coming up over the mountains at Upper Kananaskis Lake, like in this dreamy engagement session!

Mel & Alex wanted an engagement session in the mountains, but after chatting, we didn’t want to deal with the crowds of Banff and Canmore. They wanted some place different than the typical, standard, run-of-the-mill Banff engagement photos. So, after doing some hunting and location scouting, and thanks to my husband who lived in Kananaskis for several years, we stumbled upon Upper Kananaskis Lake. It was quiet and peaceful at 6am when we arrived–nothing but the sounds of birds and trickling glacier water. The perfect atmosphere for an intimate, private engagement session and I’m so happy we did it that way!

I also had fun playing around with a cool lens as well as capturing some stunning shots on film (which when you look through their gallery, you can see the difference between the film photos and the digital ones!)

It truly was so worth getting up at 4 in the morning to head out to Kananaskis country to capture these two lovebird’s engagement photos.
